We are quickly approaching Valentine’s Day; that day of “sweetness”-- hearts, love and candy. Stretch this a bit further to that perennial sweet favorite: ice cream. Let’s have some fun!
A couple of years ago, Dr. Alan Hirsch, neurologist and director of the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, conducted a study for a large ice cream company, that linked personality traits with their 6 most popular ice cream flavors.
- strawberries and cream
- double chocolate chunk
- banana cream
- butter pecan
- chocolate chip
"It was amazing to discover how distinct personalities corresponded with ice cream flavors,” said Dr. Hirsch.
Hirsch was asked to investigate whether people can be characterized according to six of Dreyer's most popular flavors.
"We collected a representative sample of 60 subjects, gave them a series of psychological tests, and used accepted research methods," he said. "It was amazing to discover how distinct personalities corresponded with ice cream flavors,” said Dr. Hirsch. "I stand behind the accuracy and reliability."
Hirsch's results were a bit more specific than Dreyer’s seemed to want, so they edited the results. After all this was supposed to be light hearted and fun…amusing for their ice cream patrons. So they tweaked and toned down the characteristics that Hirsch found.
So choose your favorite flavor, and read on….don’t cheat though! You can’t re-choose to a flavor that seems more appealing…as Dr Hirsch said,
"Very simply, you can't make yourself a better or worse person by switching your favorite flavor ice cream…But wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy?"
